Interview with Stunning and Talented Shivani Bafna

Sarim Hamid

Hey everyone,

I am Sarim Hamid, a student and Editor with The Teen Pop Magazine! I have a passion for Technology and its reaches, trying a hand at Table Tennis every now and then and crawling into my duvet to read and flip over the old yet mystical pages of Harry Potter.

Today I am in conversation with the talented Shivani Bafna.

Interview with Shivani Bafna

What was your first big break in the industry?

As a TV host, my first on-air interview was with Salman Khan for Bajrangi Bhaijaan in 2015. I will never forget the goosebumps I felt that day or the number of eyes staring at me in the room. As a model, it was landing a TVC campaign for Vismay, a leggings company. Random family members saw the ad and it was such a surreal moment to see myself on an actual billboard! Both experiences opened up many doors and gave me the confidence that I could do this!

How do you deal with all the traveling required to be a model? How do you cure jet-lag?

I don’t think there’s a cure, but indulging in self-care post travel or an intense shoot schedule is a must! I always catch up on my sleep, go for a full-body oil massage and watch Netflix once I’m back home!

When you’re not busy modeling, what are some of your favorite things to do?

I love spending time with my family and close friends. That is truly my happy place. I enjoy eating good food, playing cards, chilling in sweatpants — that’s really all I need!

What would you do differently if you were starting in your industry now?

I would invest in documenting even more of the behind the scenes of how you navigate the entertainment industry. Not even for social media, but just for my own memories!

Which people or books have had the most influence on your growth and why?

Reading the Secret completely changed my outlook towards the Law of Attraction, which I now practice religiously. I highly recommend everyone read it!

What does a typical day in your week look like?

There’s no sense of monotony at work! Sometimes it’s administrative, emails, strategy, scripting, outreach. Sometimes it’s fully in front of the camera shooting and bringing concepts to life. Sometimes it’s spent networking and mentoring others!

People say fashion and style are two different things- what is fashion v.s. style to you?

Fashion is art and what we consume on the surface. Style is how you make it your own.

What is the most ridiculous fashion rule you have ever heard?

That there have to be rules! You do you is always my motto.

What do you have to say about today’s beauty standards?

I can’t speak to what everyone perceives is beautiful, but I can confidently say that there is no better time than now to fully embrace our differences. We have been conditioned for too long that we need to fit into certain euro-centric ideals of beauty, and I am grateful to start seeing that shift in the media now!

How do you handle the stress that comes with your job?

Stress is inevitable, especially when it comes to the uncertainty of this career path. And I by no means have the perfect answer to tackle it! Writing down 3 things I’m grateful for every single night before I sleep is something that has definitely helped me! Ultimately, I strongly believe it’s all about perspective and trying to focus on the positive even when things aren’t going well.

Can you describe your style?

I am the queen of no niche. I love wearing an intricate 15 pound lengha one day and a pair of sweats the next. My style is totally based on my mood!

Rapid Fire:

A really, really comfy pair of high-waisted palazzo pants
  • Would you ever try out old fashion clothing
    Yes of course!
  • Favourite clothing store?
I can’t choose, but I really enjoy shopping at Express for daily wear!
