Hello Reader,

I am Aashi Shah, a junior at Temple University majoring in Biology. I run my own mental health awareness blog and advocate for mental health through my blogs and grant writing. I blend my passion for writing and mental health awareness through the blog. Born in Edison, NJ, teachers remember mine for always having my nose stuck in books (sometimes even getting in trouble for reading in class!). My passion and dedication to writing have led me to pursue my dreams in freelance writing!

Today I am in conversation with Fashion Model and Fitness Coach Alice Orion!

Alice Orion is a model who finds the perfect balance when it comes to being a beauty, fitness, fashion and wellness influencer. She has endorsed several famous products such as Alpha CBD, Isilda da Costa’s Youthful Living (check out our interview Isilda da Costa), BodyTech, Body Innovation, Tammy Taylor Nails Meyersdal, Voati Clothing, and many more!

Interview with Alice Orion

Hey Alice, how are you doing today?
Hey Aashi! I am doing great and I am so happy to be here!

What was the one ray of inspiration that led you to make the choice of being an influence , Alice?
The lack of realness and relatability in the ‘Influencer world’ helped me realize that there was a gap in the market that desperately needed to be filled. Real women, with real goals and struggles. Having a stage platform and a fitness platform just helped me reach a more specific market. I try to stay true to who I am. I have issues with the word ‘influencer’ itself and this is due to self-proclaimed influencers misusing their platforms that can be used to help change other people’s lives, but rather are self-gratification fake worlds of shallowness and falsity.

What 3 things does anyone starting as an influencer needs to know?
Be yourself, know your target market and stay active on your platforms.

What would you do differently if you were starting in your industry now?
Nothing. I love where I am and I do not believe we go through circumstances purposelessly; I believe that everything I have done and been through has led me exactly to this moment.

Which people or books have had the most influence on your growth and why?
My mother and grandfather. Two of the most important people in my life, and the reasons why I am who I am. Books… that’s a tough one as I believe I have always learned a valuable lesson from every book I have read.

What does a typical day in your week look like, Alice?
Typically, I would wake up and do fasted cardio around 5 am, come home from gym, shower and get ready for the day and eat breakfast around 8. After breakfast I would head to university or do some work online. After lunch (I might go see a friend during lunch) after work and lunch, I would train again at gym, come home and shower and either get ready to go out and see friends or get into bed and work or watch a movie. I like to read an educational textbook or article before bed.

People say fashion and style are two different things. What is fashion V.S. style to you?
Fashion is bought. Style is created the moment you put an outfit together and add your own personal flair.

What is the most ridiculous fashion rule you have ever heard?
Denim on denim is a no… hmm not always true

Who would you consider to be a “style icon” and why?
Jennifer Lopez. She is curvy and she owns it. Her outfits accentuate her curves and she doesn’t try hide it.

How have the people in your life influenced the way that you dress?
My mother mostly, however I definitely have my own style and none of my relatives dress like me.

Many say that red is a “power color”- how do you feel when wearing a nice red piece of clothing?
I feel powerful in any color, confidence is a mindset not a color. I do however feel great in red.

What would you say is the #1 key to success in the fashion industry?
Confidence

Now, let us talk a little dumbbells and push-ups shall we? What was the inspiration for you to become a fitness coach?
I got into fitness when I was diagnosed with POTS and told I couldn’t train… again I am a rule breaker so I did not listen, and took it one step further and started bodybuilding.

During the quarantine period, we are all looking at various ways to boost our immunity. What would you suggest would be the best way to boost our immunity?
Green veggies ARE good, even though many people would like to ignore them completely.

How can someone improve mind – muscle connection?
Paint a picture in your head- connect your mind to that muscle and picture it being used while you complete your exercise

Simple Carbs V.S Complex Carbs, what’s your take on the debatable matter?
Carbs are a soft topic. Many will say that as long as your calories are in defecit you will be ok. My answer is- if you put cheap fuel in your car it will work, but it will work better with the more expensive and ‘cleaner’ fuel. Your body is the same.

What makes you feel like the star version of yourself?
I am never satisfied or ready to stagnate. Every morning is my new ‘starting point’  body and mind- I need to continually grow and evolve, I will never be perfect… but I can still strive to always be better and get close.
