Entry #149

10am: Day 149 in social distancing – quarantine mode and I am once again feeling tired and lazy, but also a little artsy (hence my forthcoming doodles). I woke up exhausted, which is the absolute worst. Obviously, not the worst thing in the whole world. But it is the worst thing for me personally when I am trying to do a whole summer’s worth of homework that is due in two weeks. I don’t know how I am so tired all the time. I slept a solid… 8hrs, I think? Anyway, I think to stay focused I will write out an agenda for the day so that I can get over this laziness, as wellness articles always suggest.

9:20pm: I decided to have a few cookies after dinner. Best choice, honestly. Love me some good Oreos. Mmmm. Mom’s been in faculty/teacher meetings most the time this week, preparing for when school starts in our area soon. Today, she spent all day at her desk on calls with the principal, academic deans, and other teachers that work at her school. When I asked her what they talk about during one of the few times she came out, she said “brainstorming how to virtually teach us that preserves the fundamental purpose of our education.” Yeah, I’m not so sure how that would work.

I get so distracted at Zoom school… and I am in high school! How would she even begin to grab the attention of the seventh graders she teaches? I guess that’s the point of having all those calls anyway. She and the middle school staff are doing their best. I’m sure. I mean — what else can they expect? Grocery store run went fine. Everyone there was wearing a mask and gloves. I got all the items on Mom’s list and chose a few snacks for myself.

Overall – smooth sailing. I did half my math packet but read nothing today, aside from the morning and afternoon news emails I usually get. According to the news, it looks like we’ll be stuck inside for a little while longer. I thought I’d be finished with this journal by entry 100. Now it seems like it’ll be at 200. I initially began this journal to document my at-home pandemic experience but it has been a very soothing process.

I kinda enjoy writing about my day for my future self and possibly future generations to learn. It’s too bad I just don’t have exciting things to write about. So, to all my journal readers, I apologize for how boring my quarantine has been! When school starts again, Zoom or some sort of hybrid version, I’m sure I will be venting a LOT here so that will definitely be interesting.

Back to my day. I spent my reading time doodling and drawing. Time well spent, if you ask me. I think I will work on an art portfolio. Yes, that will be my activity for the summer. Summer’s almost over, I know, but… I just want to do something I enjoy, you know? Anyway, that’s what I discovered today. Stay tuned✨✨

Peace & love,

Camilla 🌼⚡ 🌎🌇🎶
