5 Exciting Netflix Shows to Binge During Quarantine!

Megha Puskur

It’s really hard to find good shows to watch, especially when your normal go-to shows have no new episodes or have jus stopped airing. Here is a list of Netflix shows to binge with all the free time the pandemic has allotted us,

Maybe watching television over quarantine isn’t the most productive idea out there, but it’s definitely one of the most appealing ones. At least for me, quarantine is the best time to catch up on all of those TV shows I previously started but had no time to finish watching. And, for once, I can even hop on the current trends in TV shows, and find out what the hype is all about.

So, take it from me, if you haven’t yet watched any of these shows, you definitely should. Even better, I’m giving you the rundown on what each show is about, how long it is, and whether it passes the vibe check. Anyways, let’s get into it!

Just to warn you, I’m definitely biased about one or two of these shows, but I’m telling you, they are worth it and click on the headings to redirect yourself to Netflix!

1. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Well, if you haven’t heard about this show already, what are you waiting for? This show effortlessly blends comedy with a wholesome story about a group of detectives. It is around 7 seasons and 20 minutes per episode, and by the end of it, let me tell you, you will have fallen in love with every single character in the show.

I suggest you watch this show with your friends because the inside jokes and references that you’ll have from here are going to be EPIC, and definitely worth sharing. One thing I love about this show is how every character becomes a better version of themselves, and you can watch them grow through their problems with lots of laughter. No spoilers here, but WATCH IT! You won’t regret it, trust me.

How long is it? 7 seasons, with the number of episodes varying per season, and 20 minutes per episode.

2. The Vampire Diaries

Vampire Diaries

I’m sure you’ve seen various TikToks about the hot guys on this show, and while that’s definitely an incentive to press play, there’s much more to the fantasy world that this show has created. With vampires, witches, werewolves, even ghosts, plus combinations of these creatures, the drama and danger that the plot never runs out of will have your eyes glued to the screen at all times. This show has comedy, sadness, romance, drama, danger, friendship, and, of course, the love triangle that it’s known for.

Even after finishing this show and its two spinoffs, I still go back and rewatch some of my favorite episodes. These are the sad ones still make me ugly cry, the funny ones make me laugh out loud, and the ones with lots of drama that have me glued to the screen even though I already know what’s going to happen.

Am I forgetting anything? Oh yeah, the incredible cast, of course. Some of the cast members even move on to the spinoff, which is called The Originals, and if you watch TVD, you should definitely tune into the spinoff as it puts a twist on an ancient vampire family with loads of enemies, lots of drama, and, of course, lots of smoking hot actors.

It’s also available on PrimeVideo, and the CW app.

How long is it? 8 seasons, with around 20-22 episodes per season (except the last season with only 16 episodes), and 40 minutes per episode.

3. Dynasty

Dynasty show

Dynasty is one of my favorite shows to date. Probably because of the incredible drama, how the characters keep switching sides on an age-old feud between two of America’s wealthiest families, the glitz and glam of the wealthy lifestyle, but also the downsides and the corruption throughout the show.

Anyway, I could try explaining the plot of this show to you, but that would take forever, especially with all of the twists and turns and surprises in every single episode, so I urge you to just watch it yourself.

Dynasty is one of those shows where every character is flawed, and you can love or hate them, but they keep surprising you with a sudden act of kindness, or a particularly evil twist. The relationships in this show are extremely complicated, but I guess that’s what builds the drama. Only two seasons (out of three) are available on Netflix, but the latest season is expected to release on Netflix in just a short while, so I’d suggest you catch up as soon as possible.

The first two seasons are available on Netflix, and the third season is on the CW app.

How long is it? There are three seasons with about forty minutes per episode

4. Stranger Things

Stranger Things

If you’re looking for a show you can binge in just one or two days, this is the show for you. Like all Netflix originals, Stranger Things releases all of its episodes on one day, so it’s the perfect show to binge.

The genre is different from the others on this list, but the plot only gets better, and you grow to love all of the characters as the seasons go by. In my honest opinion, the first few episodes were rather slow, which actually led me to stop watching it, but last summer, I randomly started watching it again, and I was definitely not disappointed.

I finished all three seasons in less than a week, and that’s when the wait for season four started. As the characters grow up, the plot gets so much more interesting, and the fight scenes are very well taken. And, even if you don’t end up liking the show, you’ll definitely develop a liking for Eggos.

How long is it? There are three seasons, with around 8-9 episodes each. Each episode spans around 50 minutes, but the finales are usually longer.

5. Elite

Elite

I’m not gonna lie, I originally started watching this show to improve my Spanish, but it has definitely grown on me. The drama, the suspense, and the murders are amazing, and in general, it creates an incredible show with an even more incredible cast.

The show is basically about the gap between the rich and the poor, and how the students interact, causing a lot of rifts, and eventually, murder. It cuts between the murder investigation and the problems at the school and at home, which is very interesting. I still haven’t finished watching all three seasons, but I should definitely get to it, and I suggest you join me! The show is entirely in Spanish, except for some phrases, in which the characters talk in English, but if you don’t know Spanish, you can just turn on subtitles, and you will definitely understand everything that’s going on.

How long is it? There are three seasons, all on Netflix, with 8 episodes each. Each episode spans around 50 minutes.

I hope you enjoy watching these as much as I do, and I’ll be back with the rundown on the current trends in TV, such as Outer Banks and Money Heist as soon as I finish watching them so stay tuned!
