It’s easier said than done when it comes to having a more positive outlook in life. That’s when it starts to feel like we’re losing ourselves to something that we can change instantly. Although it may not come as naturally to some as it comes to others, that’s why it’s important to train ourselves to become more positive. It can take a lot of work and can be intimidating, but here are 5 easy ways to begin:

1. Surround Yourself With Positive Influence

 If we surround ourselves with negative people and negative influence, it’s no wonder why we’re always feeling down and miserable. By doing this, we’re only taking more steps back and it’s not going to do any good. That’s why it’s crucial we consider what type of people and what type of influence we want to be around.

Though the thought of that can rather be daunting and a little difficult to do, think of it this way: seek out those who make you feel happy and those who want what’s best for you, and those who you feel free around. Although all of these are of great importance, this is the vital one: find those who believe in you.

2. Keep A Gratitude Journal

It’s very easy to dwell on negative thoughts and overthink all the time, but what about thinking positively and what you’re grateful for instead? With a gratitude journal, you can write about what you’re grateful for, even if it’s the littlest of things. You could be grateful for food, the people that love you, and even if it’s sunny outside.

With thinking like this, your perspective can really evolve. Even at the hardest points in your life, looking back can help remind you of the little things and all that you have in your life. Though it may be hard what to write about and even if it seems repetitive, that’s okay! All that matters is what you’re thankful for and all that positive thinking.

3. Look For The Beauty In Life

Even if it’s gloomy and stormy outside, yes, there are other ways to look for the beauty in life. There is always beauty in the little things even if it doesn’t seem that way sometimes. For example, there could be beauty in how the rain makes a tapping sound against the window, the way the moon shines its luscious light, or even the beautiful colors that blend together to create a sunset.

It can even be the softness of a blanket or how the feeling of flipping a page of a book brushes against your finger. Though the beauty you find in something you like may sound a little eerie and uncanny to others, it doesn’t matter! Whatever way it may be, you’ve finally found the beauty in your own thing and that’s what counts. 

4. Stop The Negative Talk

When you’re already feeling down and dealing with a tough situation, don’t use that as an excuse to talk negatively about yourself. Talking negatively won’t get you anywhere, even if you think it helps “just for the time being.” That being said, it’s time to begin treating yourself well and produce those positive vibes. If you’re not able to stop all that negative talk, it’ll only be more difficult to begin.
