Think about this minute. Now think about how it will never come again. So how should we perceive time? See, time is a very complex concept. Although time is eternal, you are not. Therefore, in our perspective, time is limited, even though it is technically infinite. Every minute and every second only occurs once and never returns. Of course, until the day time travel is discovered.
But as of right now, you can only try to recreate a specific moment, but the time does not return. So, knowing that everyone has a limited lifespan, and knowing that time does not come back as of today, why are people so afraid to make a move? Imagination is the power of every living human, but why stop at just imagining? This world needs people to be ready to face it. It needs people that do not just slack off thinking that what they do would never make an impact. It needs leaders – the new leaders of today.
With COVID and quarantine, I think it is safe to say that everyone has a lot more time on their hands than they did before. If we have school, we can work at our own pace to possibly get work done faster than we did at the school. If we have to go to the office, we do not have to spend extra time just for the transportation. In many ways, we have all gotten more time on our hands.
So what do we do with all of this time? I chose to keep myself busy by doing the things that I enjoy, and in fact, I know a lot of people are. I chose to paint, run, go biking with my friends, and just have fun. I know some of my friends chose to keep themselves busy with things like baking, or hanging out, and all of this is very important.
It is important to continue doing the things you love during times of struggle. In fact, everything you do should come out of the drive and passion for doing it. But if you are doing leisure activities 24/7, I am afraid to say, you do not yet recognize the value of time, and I hope to change that.
3… 2… 1… The Clock is Ticking
Now, this may sound like the same old cheesy thing, but looking back, there were probably so many things that I could have done with so much valuable time. There were probably so many things that you could have done as well. We have established that time is not going to come back, so with this very valuable resource that is eternal but limited at the same time, why not doing something for the future? Something is better than nothing, and the more productive and efficient it is, the more significant of an impact it could cause.
Like I said before, the world needs more young leaders. And how do leaders evolve? Just change that mindset of yours and you could be the new leader of today. Doesn’t matter your race or your gender, but setting your mind straight, and acknowledging the value of time, will make you a great leader. The best leaders are always the ones that value time. Understanding time is what differentiates a good leader and a great leader. Good leaders may not understand the value of time. Good leaders are productive, but not efficient. A great leader does understand the value of time and makes sure that when they work, they work productively and efficiently.
Do your work as if your life depends on it. Only then, the results will show, because you are truly dedicating all of your hard work and a lot of energy into the task. Even if the task is as simple as doing the dishes, do it well. Because in all honesty, it is not about the result that comes from the work, it is the process of doing the work. If you manage to do your tasks efficiently, recognizing the value of time, it is more likely that the outcome will reflect how much work you put in.

Like my eighth-grade science teacher used to say, “Process over product”. Grilling this phrase into the students of my class, our thinking of “I need good grades”, “I have to get an A”, and “Let me study so much for this test.” changed so that none of us worried about our grades and just put in the work every day, up to the day of the test. At the end of the day, nobody failed.
Even the kids that struggle a little more with school, passed, just because they were productive and efficient in what they were doing and the outcome was a direct reflection of the work they put in. Doing it all at once, may not be helpful for you in the future in the case of working for a test. Like this, you need to know what things require more time to be spent and what things require a small time over multiple days. It is the process that counts, and if the process goes well, the outcome will also be good. If the process does not go as well, the outcome will not be as good.
