A Poem: Excellent Wispy Words

In the inky skies of paradise,
Where the clouds are set ablaze,
And cherubs bleed iridium,
Where she falls only to rise and grow
Until the branch breaks and she falls again ,
Into the abyss of abnormalities that are tattooed onto wrists
In crimson ink as a reminder,
Like a post-it note that as you peel and rip away,
Loses more of its adhesive because it’s hard to adhere to normalcy.
But bottle up the insanity dear and smile for the cameras
But don’t show your teeth or they’ll think you can bite,
Be dainty and write fancy words of sweet poetry that drip of honey and not acid,
Tell the boys that they are lovely and hope to be smart,
But not too smart and be kind and ask for things,
But not too kind or you’ll be asking for it
In the bright blue skies of purgatory
Where the grass glows green and
The serpents spit venom made of vanadium,
Where gluttony and lust eat their hearts out under a rainbow of bitter prejudice and
The insane scream at each other for having opinions,
They pull out their hair and plant it in the ground
Where it grows into looming skyscrapers that pierce the moon and then it all comes crumbling down
Heaven breaks loose
How many people in our country – the land of the immigrants, the birthplace of the new dream, the great “melting pot” – can fluently speak their native tongue? Even if they do speak it at home, how many of those proud citizens will without shame utilize their beautiful language outside of the safe walls of home, out in the public eye where anyone can see, hear, and judge it? word word
