There was once a king that decided he wanted to change the ways of his city. He decided to bring in equity and teach the people a lesson.
“But everyone needs to be equal, my Lord!” spoke Liam agitated. “If you give them gold we must receive the same amount.
“You are already buried with riches, oh greedy man, do you desire even more?” screamed a woman standing beside him. Her clothes torn and ripped indicating her status in society.
She had introduced herself as being brought up by her grandparents in a poor village. With barely enough to survive, it had pleased her that the King wanted to finally help the poverty stricken citizens of his land. However, there had been quite a few objections to the proposed idea of gold offered to the poor.
“It’s only fair that we receive what they do, my King!” the man pleaded before the King.
His appearance contrasted with the woman’s. Dressed in fine robes and decorated with jewels, his face seemed to reflect his wealth washed with the most expensive of soaps. His eyes on the other hand mirrored greed and anger, man’s worst qualities.
“No you should not,” said the King at last. “You already have plenty of riches.
“But it’s not my fault that they haven’t got the same amount of money as me” he spat disgust drenched in his voice.
Royals Enforce Equity
“We aren’t talking about Equality here young man! We’re talking about Equity!” said the King arising from his throne
“I beg your pardon, my Lord!” the man asked bewildered. He had clearly not seen this coming.
“You heard me right! It’s not equality that this land needs, it’s fairness in terms of what people actually need. I’ll make sure that people are given only what they need. Regarding the question about poverty being the poor’s fault, I am born into the Kingdom as a King, you have been brought up with riches. Until this society discards this mentality this is how things will work!” ordered the King his face filled with pride and joy.
“But I want to object-” started the man only to interrupt the woman standing next to him.
Much to the man’s anger, she raised her hand to him indicating him to stop as she approached the King. She walked further towards the throne and sat upon it as if she had ruled the Kingdom.
The man’s eyes went wide with realization of who this woman was, She was the Queen, unrecognizeable without her attire and jewels.
The Highness
“If this is what had to happen for our country to relish, we should’ve done it a long time ago!” She said with a laugh.
The King’s lips formed a smile, his eyes staring at the man with pity and happiness.
“I’m so sorry Your Highness, I hadn’t realized it was you!” he said before kneeling down in front of the Queen.

“I shall always remember this, my Queen! May our Kingdom be filled with equity for many years to come!”
